prosource expands into Kentucky

prosource to open offices in Louisville and Lexington

prosource, an office services and technology provider, is set to open branch offices in Louisville and Lexington May 1.

The Cincinnati-based company’s Kentucky expansion is part of a long-term plan, according to Taylor Strong, team experience manager for prosource, which specializes in office technology, copying, printing, document management and information technology.

The Kentucky locations are part of continued expansion at prosource, which last year acquired West Chester, Ohio-based Infitech, an IT firm. In 2013, prosource reported top line revenue growth of 27 percent.

The Louisville branch will be at 11003 Bluegrass Parkway.

General manager of sales Tom Messmer will spearhead the new operations as general sales manager for prosource Kentucky, according to the Business Courier report. He has worked with prosource since 2009 and has 18 additional years of industry experience.

Five to 10 employees, most of whom will be based in Louisville, initially will staff the two Kentucky offices, Strong said.

Former NFL and University of Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen will head the Lexington office, and initially he will be the only employee there. A location for that office has not yet been finalized.

“This is a strategic and exciting move for prosource,” said Brad Cates, president and CEO, in a report from Business First’s sister publication Cincinnati Business Courier.“Our intent is to add jobs to the region and provide the same superior products, services and solutions to businesses in Kentucky as we have done for the last 30 years in Ohio.”

Strong said prosource plans to expand into West Virginia and Indianapolis within a year.

prosource Expands With New Offices, New Jobs

Cincinnati-based prosource, a provider of office technology and business solutions, is expanding into Kentucky.

The company will begin its operations in the Bluegrass State on May 1 at two new branch locations in Louisville and Lexington. It currently manages offices in Blue Ash, West Chester and Dayton.

The move will result in the hiring of five to 10 new employees in the next 18 months and the transition of three sales managers to lead the new offices. More jobs are expected to be created in Cincinnati and at the satellite offices after the transitional phase is complete.

The move is part of continued expansion at prosource, which began last year when it acquired West Chester-based Infitech.

“This is a strategic and exciting move for prosource,” president and CEO Brad Cates said. “Our intent is to add jobs to the region and provide the same superior products, services and solutions to businesses in Kentucky as we have done for the last 30 years in Ohio.”

prosource, which was a finalist in the Business Courier’s 2013 Best Places to Work competition, increased its top line revenue 27 percent in 2013 through its acquisition of Infitech as well as restructuring and the addition of new programs. ProSource Becomes a Box Office Hit With UD Arena Sponsorship Deal

Unprecedented five-year contract effective this season through June

(Dayton, OH, December 4, 2013) ProSource, a total office solution provider of office equipment, document automation and technology solutions, has entered a five-year sponsorship agreement with the University of Dayton, Division of Athletics. The centerpiece of the agreement is a title sponsorship of the UD Arena Ticket Office.

The ProSource logo will be prominently featured on the box office itself, with the ticket office also being referred to as, University of Dayton Arena ProSource Ticket Office. The sign was unveiled yesterday during the official signing of the agreement. University of Dayton Vice President and Director of Athletics Tim Wabler, as well as Prosource President and CEO Brad Cates were on hand to finalize the agreement. The ProSource logo will also be featured on the LED courtside panel, the basketball goal, on the replay video boards and on all half-time stat sheets given to media during men’s basketball games.

“We’ve been part of the Dayton business community for more than two decades, and plan to stay here and continue to grow our business in this region,” said President and CEO Brad Cates. “This sponsorship and deep relationship with University of Dayton is a way we can further our commitment to this thriving business community.”

Are You Ready for An Upgrade?

There has been a lot of buzz in regards to Microsoft’s latest operating system (OS), Windows 8. Designed with touch screens in mind, the new Windows 8 OS looks and feels different than Windows XP, Vista and 7. With all the talk of this new OS, you may be questioning if you should upgrade now or if you should wait. Unfortunately, the time for waiting may be coming to an end if you are still using Windows XP. Microsoft support for Windows XP is currently scheduled to end on April 8, 2014.

While you may not be ready to upgrade to Windows 8, several business are in the process of upgrading to Windows 7. Before you decide if you should or shouldn’t upgrade, here are some questions to consider.

1.   Is your current operating system working for you?

If your current OS is working well, then why would you change? You wouldn’t replace a company car that gets great gas mileage, runs like a champ, and only needs regular maintenance. So why would you replace an operating system that is meeting your current needs?

It may be the time to make a change if installing a new OS will benefit your business. Software applications are often upgraded, but those upgrades aren’t always compatible with older operating systems. Maybe you want to try out some new software, but it won’t run on XP. If you’re current OS can’t keep up with the demands of your business, then it is time to upgrade.


2.   Is your current system sustainable?

Computers, like all equipment, wear out over time. They can be patched, repaired, boosted, tweaked, and duct taped together for a time. However, they are not immortal. Eventually, the hardware needs to be replaced. When this happens, your current OS may no longer be available.


3.   Will a new operating system work with your hardware?

While new operating systems often coincide with new computers, this isn’t always the case. If you want to install a new operating system on an old computer, you need to make sure that your computer can handle the upgrade. 4.   Will a new operating system be compatible with your current software?

If you are upgrading or installing a new OS, you may need to reinstall your programs. Before making a switch, confirm that your core programs will work with the new OS.

You also need to make sure that you have copies of the programs that will need to be reinstalled. This is the time to scrape out the back of your supply cabinet for those disks that you thought you’d never need.

Please be aware that some programs limit the number of computers on which they can be installed. In some cases, you may need to purchase a new copy of a program or a new license before it can be installed.


5.   What is working for other businesses in your industry?

Finally, before making such a big decision, ask around. What are your colleagues using, and how well is it working? Understanding what is working and what isn’t may give you valuable insight into your own unique situation.

Beacon Printing adds new technology from ProSource, expands capabilities

Beacon Printing recently increased its capabilities with the addition of a Konica Minolta color bizhub Press and a black and white bizhub Pro, both with variable data printing support.  The color press allows Beacon to produce the best color images in the production print marketplace, while delivering short-run color jobs to fit customers’ tight deadlines. ProSource acquires area IT company

A Cincinnati-area company has inked a deal to acquire an IT firm from the Dayton region.

Blue Ash-based ProSource has purchased Infitech LLC in West Chester. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Infitech, a managed network services provider for small- and medium-sized businesses, has 20 employees and will maintain its office and name.

ProSource, which has an office in Dayton with 30 employees, provides office technology and business services including copying, printing and document automation. Prior to the acquisition it had 150 total employees.

Brad Cates, president and CEO of ProSource, said the addition gives ProSource a wide portfolio of IT offerings.

“We’re going to really leverage our sales and marketing capability to grow their business,” Cates said.

Infitech was founded in 1999 by Jeffrey Loeb and Dan Winterhalter. It offers computer networking and monitoring services; cloud solutions; Web design and hosting services; software development; disaster recovery and business continuity services; and network security and firewall systems.

Loeb and Winterhalter will stay with the company.

Ben Russert, chairman of ProSource, has been eyeing an acquisition like this for some time.

“With the technology they provide it was an excellent fit,” Russert said.

Both companies operate in Dayton, Cincinnati and northern Kentucky and Infitech also does work in Columbus.

Cates said ProSource has been making market share gains in its core business, copying, as well as its software business, docuVision. ProSource acquired docuVision two years ago.

ProSource’s client list includes the University of Dayton, DP&L, the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Public Schools. Infitech’s customers include Jedson Engineering and Melink Corp. in Cincinnati as well as Superior Dental Care and TriComB2B in Dayton.

Cates said the Infitech acquisition is significant for ProSource growth strategy, which includes moving into new territory such as Indianapolis, Lexington and Louisville, West Virginia.

“It’s a natural extension of where we we’re taking the business,” Cates said.

The acquisition of Infitech was the second big move for ProSource during the past six months. Last fall it hired Cates, formerly president of Standard Register’s health care business.


ProSource buys IT firm lnfitech in move to expand beyond printing

ProSource, an office technology solutions provider, acquired West Chester based IT solutions company lnfitech.

Terms of the deal, which closed March 22, were not disclosed.

Brad Cates, CEO of Blue Ash-based ProSource, said the acquisition is part of the company’s aggressive five-year growth strategy. In addition to expanding into IT services, ProSource plans to expand its core business offerings – office technology; copying, printing, document management and information technology – to Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green and West Virginia.

“This will not happen all at once, but we’re moving aggressively across the Midwest,” Cates said.

ProSource had been looking to buy an IT company for some time, and it started talking with lnfitech at the start of the year. The company, which had revenue of $35 million last year, expects double-digit growth this year, with 10 percent of its revenue coming from lnfitech offerings.

lnfitech provides on-site and remote computer and network services, backup and disaster recovery appliances and services, software and web application development, as well as network security and firewall systems. Ben Russert, chairman of ProSource, said lnfitech’s services are a natural extension of what the company was already doing.

ProSource will add 20 Infitech employees and lnfitech’s management team. By keeping the management team in place, including founders Jeffrey Loeb and Dan Winterhalter, ProSource will be able to quickly expand the services lnfitech was offering.

There will be no name changes for the first six months as the combined company evaluates what will be best moving forward. In addition, ProSource will add 500 lnfitech customers to its existing list of more than 5,000 customers, which includes Fifth Third Bank, the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Both Cates and Russert said ProSource will be looking for more acquisition opportunities, especially smaller office equipment suppliers.

“A lot of smaller companies are making the decision, do I stay or how do I stay in this business,” Cates said. “This is a great opportunity for us to potentially take market share.”
